I've added direct downloads of the mods in ZIP format on the Phantom-N page. I've put up the Phantom-N 1.0 and Vampire 1.0 mods.

 

vault not working

I have a small problem, seeing Phantom-N seems to be ONLY downloadable through the Vault. The Vault simply won't work for me, won't start up most of the time and when it does it's purely white.

So my question would be: Can I get this mod from anywhere else than the Vault as well?

I'm experimenting with a Beta 4, I'm going to be careful with it though as Beta 3 seems to be pretty sound and I don't want to overdo it, and if you release another beta then that download counter is back to zero and everyone has to get it again.

To be honest, I haven't really played a serious vampire situation myself so I'm a little unsure how it will all go down in practice, I suppose you've just got to play it heaps. I'm going by if both Phantoms are aware of what is about to happen then they'd want to get themselves in a pretty good position where they can either attack and cause lots of damage, or defend well and absorb a lot of damage, BEFORE they kill the last inno.

Anyway, more to come for sure, if you have ideas for features, etc, keep em coming!

 

Excellent Mod

Thanks for creating this Mod. Ive played dozens of Phantom games now, and it truly adds a new dimension to playing SupCom. Ive also noticed that the preference (even on 8 player games) is to have 2 phantoms when there are atleast 6 players. Anything less and people tend to vote for 1 phantom.

This version of the mod needs more people to have downloaded it (its currently around 800) rather than the couple of thousand who have downloaded prior Phantom mods. It would also be nice if there were more ways to get people suspicious about each other..... not sure how you might implement that one!

I must admit though.. in the one game where I ended up facing another phantom at the end, I did not like vampire mode. I personally think that both phantoms should just be given unlimited mass/energy in that case and let them slug it out. I found myself having no energy/mass in vampire mode within minutes as my ability to attack to straight away was not present, but his was.

Overall.. thanks for this Mod. I hope it leads to more :-)

 

Improved N-Phantom

 Thanks for taking the time to tune the new-N version, diluting the Phantom bonus in multi-Phantom games looks like a good fix actually. Gives the innocents a good chance again.

 Will give the new beta a try, good job!

Thanks for the feedback, Phantom-N is by a different author to the Phantom 2.1 Beta you know of.

The concept of multiple phantoms needs fine tuning, that's why the release you've been playing is marked as a beta. So I'll let you know where things are heading:

  • First off, the bleeding of funds has been corrected in beta 2 (I believe, unless you can confirm otherwise?)
  • Balance tweaking will come in the next release, which will adjust the phantoms' bonus relative to the number of phantoms on the map. Ie, if there is only 1 phantom, they will get more. Two phantoms will get knocked down a bit from where they are in beta 2 and 3 phantoms will take a serious reduction.
  • The resource dump options should be fixed in the next release
  • Hopefully, maybe, an option to choose how many phantoms are in the game will be present. Either by voting in-game or by choosing pre-game. This will allow you to keep the essence of single-phantom games or enjoy the increased tensions of multi-phantom games

I hope this makes you feel a bit better, if you have any other thoughts or suggestions please let me know!

Three of Eight players as Phantoms???

The innocents have no chance, they lost their single/only/greatest advantage: strength in numbers.

 As a group they had power, the Phantom needed to divide them to conquer them, sow dissention in the ranks, deceive and manipulate ... but no longer! The other Phantoms will let you kill anyone you please, and an innocent cannot stand against even a single Phantom when they have 12 strat bombers before the innocent even gets to T3.

 The Phantoms wipe the innocents quickly and painlessly, just for an extra income boost. 3 Phantoms vs 5 Innocents is no contest, it's a Phantom vs Phantom game every time as picking off the innocents guarantees a 1 in 3 chance of winning instead of 1 in 8. Which makes it really only a 3 player free for all, not a Phantom game at all. The other innocents can't band together for fear of the other Phantom waiting to pounce on a free kill and resource boost.

 The spirit of Phantom is gone, this is a ffa for Phantom players and a death sentence for Innocents.

 The only thing good about N is a glitch, the Phantom have to spend the extra cash or it bleeds to the others, so you have to use it or lose it, makes hiding the fact you are phantom much more painful.

 Great mod, you had it right the first time, should have stopped tinkering after 2.1 beta.

Phantom 1 (classic 1 Phantom game)

 Phantom 2 (ffa vampire game, bonus income for each phantom you canabalize)
