ATI's X1950XT lands 23/8
Tomorrow (23/8) we should see the on-time release of ATI's latest and greatest final DX9 GPU to the public, the X1950XT.
Featuring the same 650MHz, 48 pixel shaders as the previous X1900XTX, the X1950XT differs with the use of GDDR4 RAM, clocked to a cool 2GHz. ATI have released a new set of benchmarks for both single card and Crossfire varieties, although the validity of these are highly doubtful given the level of 'cheating' in the past.
Accompanying ATI's new champion is the X1900XT 256MB. This card should cover the gap in price/performance between the X1900XT 512MB and the X1900GT.
From what i can gather, this should be the final implementation of the DX9 Radeon's, with both nVIDIA and ATI steaming ahead on the road to DirectX 10 supremacy. It should be an interesting battle...
