NEW G100 / 9800GTX specs confirmed

The wait is over!  It seems like nVIDIA really did invent the lid, or the lock-tite for it anyway, after their extremely well kept secret regarding their most anticipated video card in the current line up, the 9800GTX.  And yes, it seems that it could be as early as next week that the NDAs will lift and the physical retail cards will start to roll out of the Big Green's labs and into our humble PCs.

Following a slide taken from a presentation, probably located at a secret base on the moon, the card seems a little 'tamer' than expected, sporting only 512MB or DDR3, a 675MHz core and a dual channel total of 2200MHz memory (1100MHz per channel).  Pretty average if you ask me, it seems from the second slide that the 9800GX2 will be the comparable card to the current king of the hill, the 8800 Ultra.  What the card should have in spades, however, is the new low price point, something that we are seeing quite a lot of these days, coming in at $300 US.  That's 1/3 of the starting price of any other previous flagship card.  So, maybe they just want us to get the 780i chipset and buy 3 for the same price as one?  If only they'd chip in for the PSU upgrade and additional $50 per month to the power bill.

Here's a few official looking slides, just incase you don't believe it.  For one, I hope it's another rumour, and we'll be blessed with a card that actually looks like it'd stand a chance at Crysis on Very High, but I may be disappointed.
